Hussain
Sagar Lake
Hussain
Sagar is a large lake in the midst of the city and
was constructed in 1562 A.D. The Tank Bund links
the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The
broad road on the bund is lined with lawns and 33
statues of famous personalities of the State stand
along the bund of the lake. The well laid out Lumbini
park located in the Buddha Purnima project has a
musical fountain.
Buddha
Statue at the Hussain Sagar
The 16 meter tall, 350 tone monolithic colossus rises high from the placid waters
of the picturesque Hussain Sagar lake. The statue of Lord Buddha is placed on
the rock of Gibraltar in the middle of the Lake. |
Himayat
Sagar
A lake parallel to the Osman Sagar lake is a slightly
smaller lake called the Himayat Sagar. It is named
after the youngest son of the seventh Nizam, Himayat
Ali Khan. The grassy area adjoining the lake is an
ideal picnic spot and the road atop the bund can make
a good road for a drive. Cottages in the tourist complex
of A.P. Tourism can be booked through the A.P.Travel
and Tourism Development Corporation. Take a long drive
to Himayat Sagar on a holiday. This lovely combination
of clean air, sparkling water and a lush area makes
the perfect picnic spot.

Shamirpet
In the northerly direction from the city of Secunderabad
is the Shamirpet lake. It is a combination of a water
reserve and a deer park where several species of deer
can be seen in their natural habitat. An ideal spot for
a picnic, the shady groves keep the area cool and pleasant.
A quite getaway with a lush vegetation and a large water
reserve makes Sharmirpet worth visiting.
